Summer Reading Kick-Off: Bug Mania!

Our kick-off party is Saturday, May 31st from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Sunnyside Kindergarten. Sign up the kids for the summer reading program at the kick-off and the first 50 kids to arrive will receive a special prize! In addition to the program, stop by our craft table and make a craft to take home and get your face painted with a buggy design. We’ve arranged for a fabulous entertainer and educator who will present his collection of wild & wacky, slimy & scary bugs!!! You’ll have an opportunity to observe and touch the bugs if you DARE!!! In addition, we’ll learn how to cook sumptuous bug treats. Chef P.R Mantis will demonstrate the art of cooking with bugs!!!

We’ll meet at the Shelter House at Chrisman Park. Find out about bugs that are gross, ugly, that can kill, and are a threat to humans! Come discover earth’s smallest monsters! We’ll create our own bugs and build a bug habitat! We’ll learn about different bugs’ habitats, survival instincts, and their benefit to humans. Dress to get dirty – dress to have fun!

Summer Reading Finale Pool Party!

Only those who have earned tickets will be admitted at the gate. (Parents are welcome.) An adult MUST accompany those children ages 6 and younger. Please pick up your child promptly at 10:00 p.m. Those children left stranded after the party ends at 10:00 p.m. will be turned over to the care of the Washington Police Department. If you have any questions please call the library at 335-2540.

Sidewalk Chalk Art Day!

It is fun, entertaining, and shhhhhh, and you’ll learn something too! Mainly, it will be fun!!!
