Circulation Limits & Rules

Loan Limits:

4   Movies (DVD/Videos)     -- 7 days

4   Computer Games          --28 days

4   Music CDs                       --28 days

15 Audio Books                   --28 days

50 Books                              --28 days

Fines:

Overdue: Movies $ 1.00 per day (up to $ 3.00)

Overdue: Computer Games $ 1.00 per day (up to $ 5.00)

All other materials are exempt from overdue fines. However, a collection fee may be charged for materials long overdue/lost.

Lost or Damaged Items:
Patrons can be charged the price of replacement for lost items, and/or the additional expenses the Library has in restocking the item/items.

Fees:

Computer and Photo copies: $ .20 per page.

Incoming and Outgoing Faxes: $ 1.00 per page.

International Faxes: $ 1.00 per page.

Genealogy Research: $5.00 per obiturary and other applicable copies charges on a per request basis.

Library Card Policy

  1. New borrowers may register for a library card by providing verification of name and current address. The library staff has the right to request age verification before issuing a card. Library cards must be presented to check out materials.
  2. The first Library Card is free. Lost or stolen cards can be replaced for a .00 fee.
  3. A parent or legal guardian must sign the application of child under age 18. Children must be in Kindergarten to register for a library card. Children not yet in school may check out materials on their parent's card. Children's registration cards will be filed with the registration of the parent or legal guardian who is requests the cards. Children may use their library cards to check out any of the materials in the library.  Parents/guardians are responsible for all materials checked out by their children.
  4. Library cards are valid for 2 years. A patron with an expired card will be asked to verify name and current address.

Carnegie Public Library Internet Use Policy

INTRODUCTION
Access to the Internet via the Ohio Public Information Network (OPLIN) is offered within the context of the Carnegie Public Library's mission to provide educational and information resources to the community of Fayette County.

The Internet may contain material of a controversial nature. The Library cannot be held responsible for the content or accuracy of the information accessed through the Internet. Restriction of a child's access to the Internet is the responsibility of the parent/legal guardian. Children under the age of 18 must have written permission from their parent/legal guardian to use the Internet.

USER GUIDELINES & INFORMATION

  • Chat rooms are prohibited
  • Use is limited to one-hour time slots. You may reserve the Internet computers 24 hours (1 day) in advance. Reserved time slots will only be held 5 minutes.
  • You may not use your own software programs on the library computers.
  • Internet access is normally available, subject to periodic maintenance, during library hours.
  • The Internet computers will be used for education, information and recreation purposes only. Unacceptable uses include but are not limited to: sending, receiving or displaying text or graphics which may reasonably be construed as obscene as defined in ORC 2907.01 (F) and applicable case law, and children under the age of 18 may not display text or graphics which may be harmful to juveniles as defined in ORC 2907.01 (E) and applicable case law; viewing or printing pornographic material; copying commercial software in violation of copyright law, using the Internet for financial gain or any commercial or illegal activity, tampering with security mechanisms so as to disrupt or damage system performance.
  • You may not always be able to go to the places on the Internet you want to visit because there are too many visitors using the host computer, the database is limited to particular users, the host computer address has changed or closed, or the Library's Internet connection is temporarily unavailable due to technical difficulties.
  • The Library reserves the right to monitor information accessed through the Internet. Misuse of Internet access will result in loss of privileges for thirty days.
  • Library staff can help with basic Internet use as time allows. For in-depth Internet training or use of hardware/software, staff will make referrals to other community resources such as Southern State or Great Oaks.
